IRZ, German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation

IRZ, German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation, was founded in 1992 by German government as a non-profit organisation in private legal form, commissioned to provide legal reform assistance to the Central and Eastern European, as well as CIS, countries within the framework of the TRANSFORM consulting programme. IRZ supports partner states in reforming their legal systems and their judiciary, as well as approximating national laws to the law of the European Union, e.g. within the framework of the Phare and Cards programmes of the European Commission. The IRZ Foundation has its own database with more than 800 experts in the legal domain. The tasks of the IRZ Foundation mainly include consulting on judicial training, legislative drafting as well as implementation of reform legislation.
